JOB VACANCY
The Mityana Charity is a Christian charity based in the UK and working with colleagues in Uganda on projects related to education, farming, health and other issues.
We are seeking suitable candidates for the role of local project coordinator in Mityana. This will be a full time post based in Mityana Town.
The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for coordination of projects in Uganda, and liaison between the Project Leaders in U.K. and those in Mityana. He or she will be an important communication link in order to facilitate the achievement of project objectives. Visits to the projects will involve some travel (mainly local.)
Potential candidates should have some experience in managing people and or projects.
The appointment will be subject to a six month trial period and a competitive salary will be offered. If you think this job might be for you, and would like more information please email to mityanacharity@gmail.com

Death announcement

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Margaret Serrunkuma, the founder of Mityana Orphanage. Margaret gave her life to looking after orphan children.

She will be sadly missed.

Mosquito nets update

Firstly – thanks to everyone who has made a donation so far! The response has been terrific. It was helped by the fact that the Mityana Charity mentioned it in their newsletter – enabling me to get donations from people I would not have been able to reach.

The total has now passed the £1000 mark (with Gift Aid).

TO THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET DONATED…. Please give just £3.30 and this will buy one net. Do not be too embarrassed to give this small amount (or an even smaller one – if it is all you can afford). Every penny counts.

Remember, we will pay for the nets BUT there will be no cost involved in organizing the distribution of the nets or training people in how to use them and no administration costs for the charity involved.

EVERY PENNY GOES TO THE CAUSE YOU ARE SUPPORTING!

634 TREATED MOSQUITO NETS were distributed at BUWAATA COMMUNITY on Saturday 19^th July 2010. Over 2000 people queued hoping for a net.

500 children die of malaria

In one sub-county in Mityana over 500 children died of malaria in a month. Help us raise funds to buy children mosquito nets.

I was upset to learn recently that several hundred children died of Malaria in one month in part of Mityana (Uganda). I know that it is relatively cheap to provide chemically-treated mosquito nets – and the training in how to use them. I decided I should do something about it.

I contacted the Mityana Charity and asked them if they could source the nets, distribute them and train families in how to use them…..if I raised the funds. This is a charity that is helping to build sustainable communities in the Mityana area – and makes NO payments to charity officials/administrators.

They said “Yes”. A cost-effective source of nets has been found and a reliable person (Moses) has been appointed to run the project in Uganda. To provide 1,000 nets, we need £3,300 pounds. (This is just £3.30 per life-saving net). However little you have, I’ll bet you can spare £3.30 to save the life of a child….. please give what you can.
